Dr. Nelson is a fellowship trained Orthopedic Reconstructive Total Joint Surgeon. He attended the University of Minnesota where he received a degree in Chemical Engineering. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School with honors as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Nelson completed his residency at the University of Minnesota Hospitals followed by a fellowship in Orthopedic Oncology and Adult Reconstruction at the Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Nelson specializes in joint replacement of the hip, knee, and shoulder. He also treats bone and soft tissue tumors including sarcomas and metastatic disease. He is an active member of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery serving each year as an oral examiner. He spends ten days each year as part of a mission team in Honduras. In fact, that is the reason he has relocated to Tucson since he met many wonderful people from Tucson as part of these mission teams.
Dr. Nelson is married with three adult children. He enjoys all outdoor activities and in a short time has enjoyed learning about all the wonderful things to do in Tucson.
