ABOUT DR. WISEMAN

Dr. James Wiseman is a relatively recent Tucson transplant. The son of a non-commissioned officer in the United States Air Force, he and his family fell in love with Tucson after completing residency, and remain widely active in the community through service organizations. Dr. Wiseman prioritizes compassionate and safe surgical care, inclusive of the needs of both patients and their loved ones.

Dr. Wiseman’s practice broadly encompasses most facets of general surgery, including surgical diseases of the liver and biliary tract, pancreas, foregut (stomach and esophagus), intestinal tract (small intestine, colon, and rectum), skin and soft tissue, and endocrine system (thyroid and parathyroid glands). He has received specific subspecialty training in surgery of the lungs and esophagus. Dr. Wiseman operates as comfortably via minimally-invasive approaches as through more traditional approaches.

Dr. Wiseman was born in Aurora, Colorado, but grew up on military bases throughout the United States and Europe. He graduated from medical school at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, and completed general surgery residency at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. He has authored more than 15 textbook chapters and peer-reviewed research articles in topics relevant to general surgery.
