Dr. Bradbury hails from the Midwest, growing up in St. Louis, then completing his undergraduate education in biology at University of Chicago. Moving east he earned his medical degree at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. During medical school he spent a summer working on the White Mountain Apache reservation and fell in love with Arizona. When it came time to do his residency he turned to the University of Arizona and completed his orthopedic surgery training there in 1993.
The US Navy claimed him for some time after residency and he served as an orthopedic surgeon in Yokosuka, Japan and at their Great Lakes Naval Base outside of Chicago. He then returned to his hometown of St. Louis where he was in private practice for nine years. At that time he also completed a fellowship in sports medicine with Dr. Don Shelbourne at the renowned Methodist Sports Clinic in Indianapolis. He served as Chief of Orthopedic Surgery and as Chief of Surgery at De Paul Medical Center.
In 2006 the call of the west was too strong to resist and he returned to Tucson. While in Tucson he has served as Division Chair of Orthopedic Surgery, member of the Medical Executive Committee, and Chief of Staff at St. Joseph Hospital. He also initiated the Carondelet Leadership Development Institute. He is a member of American Association of Physician Leaders and has committed himself to improving patient experience, safety, and quality in the office and the hospital. Currently, he is serving as President of the Board of Arizona Community Surgeons.
His outside interests are diverse and include cooking, violin and endurance sports. He has completed 5 Ironman triathlons and numerable other shorter distance triathlons, many marathons, and in 2011 became the first Arizonan to swim from Europe to Africa via the Strait of Gibraltar. He is currently training for even longer open water swims.
