Kashaf Sherafgan, MD

Dr. Kashaf Sherafgan is a Board-Certified General Surgeon. She completed her medical school in Lahore, Pakistan and then went on to do her internship at Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York. She completed her residency at Tulane University Medical Center, New Orleans in 2010. After residency, she worked in private practice while continuing to be involved with academics at the Tulane Surgery Program. She then moved to her Alma mater, Mount Sinai’s Elmhurst Hospital and was involved with general and trauma surgery, while actively training surgery residents. She moved to Tucson to be with her husband Nusrum Iqbal MD, an Internal Medicine Hospitalist and joined Arizona Community of Surgeons West Campus in 2016.

Dr. Sherafgan has a passion for surgery and she loves teaching. She mentors high school students, who routinely shadow her, and she inspires them to the field of medicine and surgery. She is also actively involved with teaching 3rd and 4th year medical students from AT Still University, Mesa Arizona. She is also an instructor in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and teaches it regularly at the University. She also does medical missions and volunteer work including holding workshops for cancer patients.

Dr. Sherafgan has been performing advanced minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery since completing her residency in 2010. And since 2016 her practices also involve robotic surgery particularly for colon and rectal cancer, diverticular disease, hernias and gallbladder surgery. She also does abdominal wall reconstructions for recurrent hernias. She also performs surgeries for benign diseases, including surgery for hemorrhoids, anal fissures, cysts and lipomas. Dr. Sherafgan has special interest in breast surgery (benign and malignant disease processes) and being a female holds these patients close to her heart. She is a member of the Breast Cancer Center and an active member of the multidisciplinary program, involving tumors boards, for close surveillance and cancer management at the hospital.

Dr. Sherafgan is dedicated to her patient’s well-being and quick recovery. She is participating with major health plans and is accepting new patients. She is affiliated with St. Mary’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Santa Cruz Valley Regional Hospital.
